The new i30’s large, tablet-style, floating multimedia display is positioned high up on the dashboard. Not only does this become the focal point of the interior, but it is also ergonomically superior, being closer to the driver’s line-of-sight and easily within reach.
The new i30 offers year round comfort for front seat occupants thanks to the heated and ventilated front seats. The 3-stage heating elements ensure the front seating surfaces are warmed in cool weather. Exclusive to the N Line range, the 150kW Gamma 1.6 Turbo-GDi engine delivers sharp throttle response, impressive low-end torque, as well as surprising fuel economy. The i30 N Line range offers 25% more power and 31% more torque compared to the standard 2.0 GDi engine.

An exclusive, Australian-developed sports suspension tune is applied to the i30 N Line range, and offers a more dynamic, responsive, and playful character compared to the standard i30 range. Additionally, the multi-link rear suspension allows each rear wheel to travel independently of the other. Available on all automatic and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) variants, the “Drive Mode” select function allows drivers to choose between ‘Normal’, ‘Eco’, and ‘Sport’ modes. The ‘Normal’ mode offers a driving experience optimised for a typical driver, whilst ‘Eco’ mode maximises fuel economy. ‘Sport’ mode offers increased steering weighting and engine response. Coupled with delayed up-shifting, this mode maximises the dynamic driving feel of the vehicle.
Several design features have been adopted on the i30 in order to reduce aerodynamic drag, including side mouldings that wrap around the rear window, side mouldings on the front windshield, as well as functional front bumper air ducts, which generate an air curtain around the front wheels in order to improve high-speed aerodynamic efficiency. All this results in an impressive drag coefficient of 0.30, contributing to reduced fuel consumption as well as wind noise.
Thanks to heat treatment processes, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) is up to 10% lighter than, and twice as rigid, as conventional mild steel. The i30 features significantly increased application of AHSS, totalling 53.5% (as compared to 27.2% on the outgoing model), and resulting in a significant increase in static rigidity over the outgoing model, whilst achieving a 28kg lighter body-in-white weight.
When you may be getting a bit too close to a car, cyclist, or even pedestrian in front of you, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) will kick in and gently apply the brakes until you become a safe stopping distance away.
At speeds of 30 km/h or above, BCW uses radar sensors on either side of the rear bumper to detect vehicles next to and diagonally behind the i30. If a vehicle is present in the i30’s blind spot, BCW displays a visual alert in the exterior mirrors. If the driver proceeds to activate the corresponding indicator lights, a flashing visual warning is provided and an audible alert is sounded.
Using the Blind Spot Detection system’s radar sensors, RCCW monitors for traffic approaching on either side of the i30 when reversing out of an angle parking space. Should RCCW detect a vehicle approaching, an audible warning will sound, with a visual warning displayed on the supervision cluster.
Standard LKAS mode provides steering intervention as the vehicle is about to leave the lane.
Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go utilises the front radar sensor to detect the speed and distance of vehicles ahead of the i30. It then automatically maintains a safe distance to the vehicle ahead, up to a pre-set speed by the driver (between 30km/h – 180km/h). The Stop & Go function works in stop/start traffic, bringing the vehicle to a stop when appropriate, and automatically accelerate back up the original set speed.
At speeds of 64km/h or above, Driver Attention Warning (DAW) uses the windshield mounted camera to continually monitor the vehicle’s position within the lane, whilst also tracking steering inputs, brake pedal inputs, as well as time since last break. Should the system detect careless driving (such as sudden steering/braking inputs and/or inability to keep within lane), the ‘Attention Level’ display on the cluster will continually decrease. Should the level decrease to a certain threshold, the DAA system will recommend that the driver take a break.
